HL7connect

Low regulatory burden
Competitiveness through integration
Cost-friendly pay-per-device mode

Interoperability in medicine is gaining more and more significance due to digitalization and new normality. Producers of medical devices are confronted with the challenge of integrating their devices into the clinical network and supporting the exchange of data. The connection and communication between medical devices and master data systems of a hospital communication system is a must-have nowadays if competititveness is to be upheld. To do so, the HL7 standard is relied upon internationally. So, an HL7 interface for the medical device must be provided.

But becoming acquainted with HL7 and connecting devices on site at the hospital oftentimes turns out to be a rather complex procedure. To make this procedure as easy as possible, we developed HL7connect.

softgate developed HL7connect as a software component using HL7 for the integration of medical devices into the clinical network. The exchange of patient master data and the data collected by the producer’s medical device is done by the component. This way, producers of medical devices can focus on their expertise and use the advantages of HL7connect at the same time.

Competitiveness through Integration

Reach more customers integrating into clinical networks (especially KIS, PACS, EPA).

Fast availability

Easy integration into the software of your device and consequently into the clinical network leads to fast availability

Low regulatory burden

Developed according to guidelines for medical products to fulfill the regulatory requirements (MDR)

Low cost pay-per-device model

Only devices active in the field need a license

Development according to highest safety class

Developed according to safety class C, IEC 62304 and consequently suitable for the integration into highly critical systems

Features of the HL7 interface:

  • Sending and recieving HL7 messages
  • Exchange filebased or directly through the network (TCP-HL7 MLLP Protocol)
  • Free configuration of parameters for the data transfer and therefore adjustable to the terminology of the medical device and the final customer (e. g. hospital).
  • Usage of different HL7 versions and dialects (e. g. medical device 2.5 <-> KIS 2.7)
  • Consultation and support
