Your first step towards exploiting the benefits of Industry 4.0 is the acquisition of relevant measurement data; let it be information on power consumption, machine utilization or possible damages. The measurement data are particularly valuable when it comes to upcoming maintenance or optimized use of the machines.
Especially the data quality of your machinery and equipment will form the basis for our analyses and predictions, such as the remaining service life of monitored components.
To assess the data quality of self-collected data, you can send us your relevant sample, e.g. as a CSV file, and thus achieve an initial rating of the data quality using data import in SOMA Analytics.
Older machinery often requires digitalization. This means that your machines will be equipped with sensors and modern communication components. If required, we will offer you a digitalization concept/topology for data acquisition based on Beckhoff® products and SOMA Data Acquisition.
We will perform data acquisition via digital / analogue 24V technology via I/O terminals and via your machine or system PLC via communication of your choice (e.g. EtherCAT, Profibus or ProfiNet).
To extract, translate, and transmit data, IPC controls, communication protocols, and physical interfaces (f. e. I/O terminals) are essential and necessary.
IPC-Based Control Systems
The use of industrial PC-based controls allows you to extract parameters and data from your machinery acquired via sensors. These controls can be operated by entering PLC commands into your industrial PC serving as CPU.

Industrial Communication Protocols
The use of industrial communication protocols is essential and necessary when it comes to digitalize your machinery. These protocols enable the machines to communicate with each other and with external devices, thus ensuring that the machines interconnect. Communication takes place via machine PLC. The transfer of data to storage media and evaluation tools also make use of the communication protocols.
Which industrial communication protocols are available? For what are these protocols suitable?
