A growing problem in Germany is the inadequate provision of ophthalmological care in rural areas – this is exactly where this project comes in. Mobile examination units enable ophthalmological screenings to be carried out directly on site.
The measurement and imaging data collected during the examination are transmitted via a cloud infrastructure to a team of ophthalmologists for evaluation. This separates the examination from the medical evaluation and enables nationwide, comprehensive eye screening. Patients can register for appointments via an online portal, where they also receive their diagnostic results and recommendations for further action.

Use case:
Cloud Integration for Mobile Eye Diagnostics via a DICOM Gateway
Industry:
Ophthalmology / Cloud
Technology:
DICOM, C++, HTTPS, REST
Projektbeschreibung
Benefits
- With softgate’s DICOMconnect library, the DICOM requirements were already implemented at the start of the project, which kept development time and costs to a minimum.
- Thanks to experienced developers in the field of medical clouds, the connection to cloud services could also be specified and implemented very quickly.
- Less than two weeks after the project started, the first version of the gateway was up and running, and it worked correctly and stably from day one.
- Change requests that arose during implementation could be implemented at no extra cost.
